If you don't have a Kindle e-reader, don't worry! There are free downloadable apps right on the site, and they will allow you to read anything Kindle-related on your ipod, ipad, iphone, blackberry, Mac, PC...whatever you have. Such an excellent deal!

Today is the DAY!

After two years of not knowing what to do with my novel (and quite a few edits), I am going to publish it myself TODAY!


I have chosen this route for many reasons...but the main one is because I get to retain total control over my work. And, let's face it, writing a book is like any other creative endeavor...you pour quite a bit of who you are into the project along the way. It's something I've spent days in a row, awake, typing as fast as my fingers could fly to try to get the thoughts bouncing around in my head down onto paper before they disappeared. Weeks of outlining plot, and filling it in with words. Admittedly, not every one of my original thoughts made the final edit, but most are there. I like the way my story evolved, and who by characters turned out to be; some of them even surprised me with the things they did and said.


'For Keeps' is a story I would enjoy reading at the end of the day, cozied up on the couch with a hot tea. 


I hope you all enjoy it, and come to love the characters as much as I do.

Getting Started

Hello Everyone! And this is my first foray into the world of blogging. Scary. Daunting. Also FUN!

I'm going to start by introducing myself: I'm Jennifer Solberg. Artist, writer, mother. Mother has been taking up most of my time until recently, when my kids are now old enough that they don't need me all the time....which now leaves me with time to create things for myself.

The biggest thing I've created is a murder-mystery novel which I am self-publishing via Amazon Kindle titled 'For Keeps'. It's a fast-paced, exciting mystery surrounding a rancher with a dark past named Adam, and what happens after he finds what he thinks is a dead body on his ranch in Montana.

I based it on the ranch my husband's family owns in central Montana, and some of the characters in the book are loosely based on a combination of people I met while living and working there. Yes...I lived out in the wild, wild west for three years. It was extremely fun and interesting to do something that diverged so completely from my urban life in Nebraska, and my career as an Interior Designer.
